Guidelines for checking a shoe fit:

1. Make sure the correct socks are worn when trying the shoe on
2. Open up the shoe properly
3. With your child standing up straight, check the shoe is fastened securely and gently tug at the heel to ensure it doesn't slip
4. Check the ankle bone isn't touching the outside of the shoe but is sitting just below it
5. You should be able to run your thumb along the upper front of the shoe and feel a ripple of leather, too much means the shoe is too big and no ripple means it is too small
6. There should be a thumb width between the end of the shoe and the end of the longest toe
7. Finally ask your child to walk in the shoes to ensure that they feel comfortable and don't slip off and on.
